The Ian Allan Story – BBC Surrey Interview
This is the story of Ian Allan, a man synonymous with the travel industry particularly here in Surrey.
Now in his nineties, Ian is widely credited for the growth in popularity of trainspotting as a national past-time.
But it was back in the 1940’s, when he was working in the PR department of Southern Railways, that he first identified the passion so many people shared for trains.
Mark Carter recorded this special four part series with Ian’s son Paul.
